What's Next for Windows 11?

Microsoft has announced that the next significant update for Windows 11 is scheduled for Tuesday, 26th September.

Main Features in Build 23H2

The highlight of this release is the integration of Windows Copilot. If you've used Microsoft Edge, you're likely familiar with the Bing icon in the top-right corner that allows you to initiate a chat-based query. This feature will now be natively available in Windows 11, making it even more accessible.

Other Notable Updates

  • A redesigned File Explorer
  • Improvements to the built-in Microsoft Paint App
  • New Ink Anywhere feature for touchscreen devices
  • Overhauled Volume Mixer
  • Enhanced backup and restore experience
  • Native support for 7z and RAR files, eliminating the need for third-party tools

In addition, the Settings homepage has received a makeover, and improvements have been made to the Narrator. Want to customise your RGB lighting? Yes, that’s now an option too.

Microsoft 365 Copilot AI Assistant

Satya Nadella announced plans to roll out the 365 Copilot AI Assistant on 1st November for specific Business and Enterprise plans. This new feature will integrate seamlessly into your Microsoft 365 tenant, allowing users to quickly create documents, receive real-time meeting information via TEAMS, and even scan statistics or sales projections for instant results.

Pricing

It's important to note that this service will not be free; it comes at a $30 per month per user surcharge on top of your existing Microsoft 365 licence. UK pricing details are yet to be announced.
