That's why we are incredibly proud to be kit sponsors of the Westlands Under 10s football team. Our Senior Consultant, Lyndon Doyle, had the honour of attending their first cup game last Saturday, 23rd September, against Ilchester.
A Bright but Challenging Day…
The weather was excellent; the sun shone down on the players and supporters alike as the team played their first cup game at their home ground in Alvington. The atmosphere was electric, despite the team facing a more senior Under 11 side from Ilchester.
First Half Struggles…
According to Lyndon Doyle, who attended the game, "The sun was certainly not making it easy for the lads in the first half. They were playing against it, and you could see that it was affecting their game. They conceded three goals, but their spirits remained undeterred."
A Fierce Comeback…
In the second half, the young athletes made a dramatic turnaround. Lyndon recalls, "After Ilchester scored another goal with a stunning long-range shot, our Westlands Under 9s really upped their game. They placed some fantastic tackles, drove the ball up the pitch, and netted two goals themselves."
Looking Forward…
Although the team didn’t manage to secure a win, the loss puts them in a strong position in the competition for The Plate—something they are optimistic about winning. "They were initially down but not disheartened. After winning their first two league games convincingly, this loss will only fuel them to train harder. I was very impressed with their resilience and teamwork," said Lyndon.
