Kicking Off a New Season with Yeovil Town FC
by Ben Grave - Mon 11 Aug 2025There’s nothing like the buzz of a new football season. Last Saturday at Huish Park, Yeovil Town kicked off their campaign in front of a crowd that could finally feel hopeful again. As proud shirt sponsors, Mark One were right at the heart of the action – and so was our very own Lyndon Doyle, who made the trip to cheer on the Glovers.
Lyndon on the Terraces
Lyndon is no stranger to a bit of matchday noise, and as he and his son Ollie joined the sea of green and white, it was clear football there was a sense of excitement in the air. Being there in person, bumping into old friends, and sharing the nerves (and a couple of hot dogs in the break) – these are the moments that make supporting local football special.
A Solid Start
The game itself was a nail-biter. Yeovil almost made the dream start when Aaron Jarvis burst into the box, only to be denied by a perfectly timed tackle from a Hartlepool defender. Both sides battled for control, with the Glovers’ defence standing firm against plenty of Hartlepool pressure in the first half.
Things got livelier immediately after the break. There was a real roar from the stands when James Daly’s header looked destined for the net, only for the Hartlepool keeper to pull off a superb save. Debutant Ben Wodskou (one to watch this season!) even had a late chance to nick all three points, but it just wasn’t to be and the game settled down as Hartlepool found their feet again.
While everyone hoped for a win a 0–0 draw on opening day at least meant Yeovil Town started the season unbeaten – you can’t ask for much more. The clean sheet is a big positive too.
A New Chapter
This match was also one for the history books: Yeovil’s first with new owner Prabhu at the helm. His open letter to fans after the game said it all – welcoming everyone, thanking supporters old and new, and promising better days ahead for Yeovil Town. Seeing him mingling with fans and the town’s mayor was a real sign that this is more than just football; it’s about bringing our community together.
Proud to Be Part of It
For us at Mark One, being on the back of the YTFC shirt means more than just a logo. It’s a partnership. It’s Saturday afternoons in the stands, soaking up the atmosphere, and supporting grass-roots football in our hometown. We left Huish Park feeling hopeful and excited for the season ahead.
Let’s get behind the team – and here’s to a great season at Huish Park!
